Our story
Back in the 1970s, when the first Bottle Bills (one-way deposit legislation) were introduced in some U.S. states, retailers had to sort deposit bottles and cans into boxes, account for them manually, and return them to the individual distributors. Envipco's founder, Bruce deWoolfson, then patented a system to register deposit containers by barcode in what is known as a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM).
This innovation marked the beginning of Envipco and laid the foundation for all future Deposit Return Systems (DRS) for one-way containers. Since then, Envipco has been a major player in the 10 U.S. Bottle Bill states, supplying retailers with RVMs and a full range of supporting services including maintenance, pickup, processing, and deposit clearing. This represented a closed-loop recycling system at least 20 years before the concept became widely recognized. Envipco's operations were primarily focused on North America, with distributors in pre-DRS markets like Greece, France, and Australia.
In 2015, Envipco concluded the development of the Quantum Bulk Feed RVM and successfully launched it in the Swedish market with DRS operator Returpack. This established an initial foothold in the European market, which has since expanded to new DRS markets such as Malta, Romania, Hungary, and Ireland.
Who we are
Envipco takes a proactive and dedicated approach to making recycling easier and more accessible for everyone.
With decades of experience in the industry, the company leverages its deep expertise to develop advanced reverse vending machines (RVMs) that simplify the recycling process. Envipco's commitment is evident in their continuous efforts to innovate and enhance the functionality and user-friendliness of their machines, ensuring they meet the needs of various settings—from small shops to large recycling facilities. By focusing on customer convenience and operational efficiency, Envipco works tirelessly to reduce the environmental impact of waste. Their approach involves close collaboration with stakeholders at all levels to tailor recycling solutions that are both effective and sustainable, thereby promoting higher recycling rates and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
What makes us different
At Envipco, our commitment is clear: we work harder to make recycling easier for everyone. With over 40 years of experience in establishing Deposit Return Systems (DRS) globally, we bring a wealth of knowledge and proven strategies to the table. We are not only equipped to supply large volumes to meet the demands of markets like Poland, but we are also flexible enough to adapt to and fulfill local needs. Our ability to seamlessly integrate large-scale operations with tailored, community-specific approaches sets us apart, making recycling efforts more effective and straightforward wherever we operate.
Our solutions
-
Flex: Known for its compact design, the Flex model is perfect for locations with limited space like convenience stores, pharmacies, and petrol stations. It's the smallest in the market yet efficient in handling compacting technology.
- Flex Tri: This model is uniquely designed to collect three types of materials—PET, cans, and glass bottles. It features advanced compaction technology for PET bottles and cans and offers various solutions for glass bottle handling.
- Optima: Suitable for any retailer or collection point expecting decent volumes, Optima is available in configurations that can handle two or three types of recyclable materials simultaneously.
-
Ultra: This model is optimized for accessibility and efficiency, meeting the needs of standard-size retail locations. It can be configured for single or multiple material types, ensuring a seamless recycling process.
-
Modula: Featuring a double-infeed system with expandable storage capacity, Modula is designed for high-capacity needs, allowing up to eight compartments to be added based on the volume of materials handled. These machines not only support the efficient recycling of various materials but also integrate with digital solutions like the enVision Digital Suite, which provides RVM monitoring, digital payment options, and comprehensive reporting to enhance the recycling programs of businesses. Each model can be tailored to fit specific environmental and operational needs, reflecting Envipco's commitment to flexible, customer-centric solutions.
-
Quantum: This is a bulk-feed machine ideal for large return centers such as supermarkets and hypermarkets, offering the fastest and most convenient collection experience.
The Quantum offers consumers a unique recycling experience. Thanks to its patented parallel processing technology, it is faster and more convenient than any other Reverse Vending Machine (RVM), processing up to 120 objects per minute. This means a large bag of deposit containers can be handled in less than two minutes. Initially developed for local community recycling parks, the outdoor version of the Quantum also gives supermarkets the opportunity to manage recycling in their parking lots, freeing up valuable sales areas. Retailers in mature deposit markets report that the convenience of the Quantum significantly increases deposit handling volume and can even directly drive customer traffic and store turnover. Additionally, the Quantum helps reduce the costs of Deposit Return Systems (DRS) as small business owners may choose it over more expensive manual handling systems.
Our approach
Envipco actively interacts with our key customers and works closely to establish optimal RVM configurations for new clients. We also capture 'Voice of the Customer' feedback, integrating it into our New Product Development processes. There is a clear trend towards bulk feed solutions in more mature markets. Traditionally, retailers might opt for a minimal single feed solution when a system is first introduced; however, over time, consumers come to expect more convenient recycling through bulk feed. In some markets, we are also seeing a rapid shift toward bulk feed RVMs to better serve small businesses and HoReCa customers.
